What I Do To De-stress In My Free Time

Play with my dogs, cats and other creatures, camping, spending time with my family.

My Work Style

My work style depends on client’s needs and preferences. I prefer to work less with special materials and more with what is available in natural environment. I prefer natural environment training for most of the skills. I also highly focused on peer interaction and teaching demonstrating skills with peers whenever possible. My main goal for any client is to help them achieve as much independence as possible, including teaching group interaction, daily living skills, leisure skills and decreasing problem behavior, that could limit inclusion in the community.

Areas of Expertise

Functional assessment, working with problem behavior, transitional goals, teaching communication and language skills, teaching play and group skills.

Why I Became a BCBA

I love science! And creating objective and measurable goals and evidence-based intervention is science that changes behaviors.

What Previous Clients Would Say About Me

Probably they will say that I can come with good functional goals and know how to teach those skills, they might also say that I am creative with reinforcement and materials for teaching.

What I Love Most About What I Do

Love seeing kids learning new skills and progressing.

Most Challenging Professional Moment

Not being able to help kids who need help, but do not meet criteria for receiving ABA services.

Most Rewarding Professional Moment

Parents seeing clients demonstrating new skills for the first time.

I am from Moscow (Russia), I moved to Alaska in 2009 and have been living there since then. I became BCBA-D in 2012. I am coming from developmental psychology background (my PhD is in developmental psychology). I think that it gives me a great perspective and helps with understanding of typical development and milestones.

My areas of expertise include language and communication developments, functional assessments, play and social skills development, working with problem behavior, I love working using natural environment and items that are already in child’s natural environment. It is especially important for me that all the goals I am working on with the client are functional and makes sense for the family.
