What I Do To De-stress In My Free Time

Yoga. I will be training to become a yoga teacher this year. I also love cheering my son on at his football, basketball, and baseball games.

My Work Style

My ultimate goal is to increase a family's quality of life. Sometimes just a few small changes can be made that make a big difference. Other times, it can be a long road with lots of little baby steps along the way. I am there to provide support and guidance along the way. If I can make the lives of someone just a little bit easier, it is a great accomplishment.

Areas of Expertise

Communication deficits, social skills deficits, verbal behavior, aggressive behaviors, self-injurious behaviors, self-care/daily living skills, transitioning from childhood to adulthood/school to community transitions

Why I Became a BCBA

My first semester of college, I was an engineering major and got a C in chemistry. I had never gotten less than a B in anything, and I knew I had to change my major. In high school I loved math and psychology, so I decided to switch to psychology. I took Intro to Behavior Analysis and I was hooked. I immediately started doing research in behavior analysis and working as a personal assistant for a child with Down's Syndrome. Since then, I have never looked back.

What Previous Clients Would Say About Me

They miss me! :) They would say I am dedicated, hard working, and really care.

What I Love Most About What I Do

Getting to help people.

Most Challenging Professional Moment

When I had to take time off after my husband passed away in 2014. I hated to temporarily transition them to other BCBA's, but taking some time for myself and my young son made me a better professional in the long run.

Most Rewarding Professional Moment

Hearing a child’s first word when everyone has told the parent’s their child will never talk. Second place-when clients don't need me anymore because they have made so much progress they can be independent.
