What I Do To De-stress In My Free Time

I love listening to music and especially enjoy singing in groups, like choirs. I also love learning about new things and will always welcome a trip to any sort of museum. Lastly, trying different cuisines with my husband and our friends is always a guaranteed de-stressor.

Why I Became a BCBA

I initially became interested in ABA because I love kids and felt like I was uniquely able to connect with them – even better, ABA gave me a way to use that special bond to help improve kids’ lives! With my background in biology and masters degree in education-psychology, I quickly became hooked to the behavioral science/ data aspect of ABA and felt that the BCBA was the best way to marry my two passions: behavioral science and kids.

What Previous Clients Would Say About Me

Creative: I have a knack for play and I can find new methods to help kids improve their skills through customizing an approach through activities they enjoy. Empathetic: In the introduction phase of getting to know a new client, I seek to deeply understand their preferences, dislikes, strengths and weaknesses in order to build realistic new habits that resonate with them to create permanent shifts in behavior they want to change Committed: I am dedicated to my client’s success, now matter how severe the case is. Within my 6 years of therapy, I’ve spent 2 years focusing on severe problem behavior, which gives me an advantage and new perspective to coming up with new solutions in the most challenging cases

What I Love Most About What I Do

I love seeing clients acquire skills they learned during therapy and apply them to real life situations. For example, a previous client of mine learned to ask for help during ABA sessions and soon he was generalizing asking for help to others outside of his sessions. These client life changes are what I admire most about being an ABA practitioner.

Most Challenging Professional Moment

Most Rewarding Professional Moment

A client I worked with spent a year at my clinic before he was assigned to my caseload, without any improvement. Upon the launch of telehealth in my clinic, I had to reorganize my approach to capture his focus online. After testing a range of techniques and continuously refining my strategies, I was able to breakthrough with the client for the first time. After 6 months of treatment, we saw exponential results in the data and I was rewarded the certificate of achievement at my clinic.
