My Work Style

I’m a go-getter that is full of energy. The first and most important step is ensuring that a culture of trust and rapport has been built with the family. I think it’s very important to celebrate all successes, as well as acknowledge when something isn’t going as planned. There is no problem that I am not willing to tackle (or refer out for proper resources). My goal is to set meaningful goals that work towards independence, and the way we reach those goals is different for every family.

Area of Expertise

Caregiver training/support, Verbal behavior, early learners, social skills, addressing barriers to learning.

What I Do To De-stress In My Free Time

Play with my son & husband outside, Netflix, and I’ve been trying out painting & biking.

Why I Became a BCBA

I have always been interested in why we do what we do, and how I can help others set up their environment for success. I took a learning and behavior course in undergrad and loved it. I began volunteering with special needs children and realized that these children are often underestimated. Each family I have worked with has brought a new, unique perspective to life and I firmly believe that I can learn just as much from my clients as they can learn from me.

What Previous Clients Would Say About Me

I am passionate, dedicated, and advocate fiercely for my clients. I don’t sugar coat expectations and often over-explain. If something doesn’t work, look to the environment, modify, and I will work with you to develop a different solution.

What I Love Most About What I Do

Disseminating science that works, and being able to use it every single day. Seeing parents and clients feel accomplished and successful when they are given the proper tools.

Most Challenging Professional Moment

Trying to implement plans when not everyone is on the same page or consistent when my intervention isn’t enough and a more restrictive environment needs to be recommended.

Most Rewarding Professional Moment

There are too many to list here! To name a few...having a client tell me they made their first “friend”, supporting a child learning to walk, watching a client go from not having any language to speaking in full sentences, seeing a child approach and interact with their sibling for the first time, supporting a client to move from a restrictive education environment to a general education setting. Training wise-watching those I supervise pass the BCBA exam and become confident BCBA’s, or use the tools I provide them to make a difference on a new case :)
